Orbital Lasers Co., Ltd.

Orbital Lasers Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; Representative Director and CEO: Tadanori Fukushima; hereafter “OLC”) and Infinite Orbits S.A.S. (Headquarters: Toulouse, France; hereafter “Infinite Orbits”) represented by its international business development activities including Etienne Maillard, Head of Business Development APAC, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership in the field of next-generation in-orbit servicing.

Under this MoU, the two companies will explore the potential business, technical, and regulatory studies to integrate OLC’s laser-based technology with Infinite Orbits’ in-orbit servicing spacecraft operating in both Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Geostationary Orbit (GEO). The collaboration aims to support the development of multi-orbit, multi-target servicing capabilities.

The Parties intend to collaborate on the definition and advancement of joint projects covering research, development, mission demonstration, and potential commercialization of next-generation servicer spacecrafts. These systems are expected to support a range of in-orbit servicing applications, including deorbiting and operations involving non-cooperative space objects.

As part of this cooperation, OLC and Infinite Orbits will:

  • Explore joint business opportunities and market development strategies

  • Collaborate on the preparation of joint proposals for commercial and institutional customers

  • Conduct technical studies, including the development of Concepts of Operations (ConOps) and system integration assessments

  • Align technical interfaces and exchange relevant technical information on a best-efforts basis

  • Share knowledge and expertise to enhance system performance, safety, and reliability

  • Assess regulatory frameworks in relevant jurisdictions and target markets

The Parties also intend to pursue mission demonstration opportunities and coordinated business development activities to support global market expansion.

This MoU reflects the mutual intention of the Parties to collaborate and does not constitute a legally binding agreement, except for specific provisions such as confidentiality, intellectual property, publication, and other clauses as defined therein.

Through this collaboration, OLC and Infinite Orbits aim to contribute to the sustainability of the space environment and to enable safer and more efficient in-orbit servicing operations across multiple orbital regimes.

Infinite Orbits and Orbital Lasers Partner on Next-Generation In-Orbit Servicing

Mr. Tadanori Fukushima, Representative Director and CEO of Orbital Lasers, added:

“In-orbit servicing will be a critical foundation for the future use of space, and addressing space debris remains one of the key challenges in this field. We see our collaboration with Infinite Orbits as a significant opportunity to bring our laser technology into real operational use to tackle this challenge. By combining our respective strengths, we aim to contribute to safer and more sustainable space operations.”

Mr. Adel Haddoud, Chief Executive Officer of Infinite Orbits, noted:

“Building this partnership with Orbital Lasers goes beyond strengthening our ties with the Japanese space industry and reinforcing the relationship between France and Japan. It will enable us to shape the future of in-orbit services and contribute to the development of our next generation of servicers, with our first generation scheduled to hit the orbits in 2029.

By combining our expertise in satellite proximity operations with Orbital Lasers’ payload technology, we have a strong opportunity to develop the infrastructure and capabilities required for safer and more sustainable space operations.”
